The City of Guelph has awarded a community climate agreement to Sustainable Waterloo Region, a nonprofit that will help local partners turn the city's climate goals into practical work.

The agreement provides $75,000 a year through March 31, 2027, and can be renewed for up to three years.

The organization plans to convene residents, businesses, institutions and community groups to identify challenges and develop actions that support a sustainable environment and stronger community resilience.

Early focus areas include energy-efficient buildings, renewable energy, cleaner transportation, a circular economy and the natural environment. Those actions are still being planned.
