The Manitoba government is giving $100,000 to the International Society of Krishna Consciousness Manitoba to expand its food-security work and build a commercial community kitchen in Winnipeg’s Weston neighbourhood.
ISKCON Manitoba already provides free, plant-based meals through its Food for Life program at Roy Avenue and through mobile outreach. The new kitchen will be fully equipped and certified.
The kitchen is expected to prepare more than 500 meals each week for community programs, including Soul Spark, Sacred Gathering, and Yoga and Meditation, as well as for emergency relief.
The grant comes through Manitoba’s From the Ground Up program, which supports community revitalisation, youth programs, and improvements to local spaces.
