Variety the Children’s Charity has given away its 10,000th piece of adaptive equipment to children in the Pittsburgh area, with families receiving the items at no cost.
The equipment includes bikes made for each child’s needs, adaptive strollers, and communication devices. These tools can help children ride, travel safely, play outside, and share what they want to say.
CBS Pittsburgh highlighted nine-year-old Maeve Parkinson, who has Lamb-Shaffer syndrome. Her adapted bike and stroller give her more ways to enjoy outings with her family, while a communication device helps her express herself.
The charity says the equipment is made possible by donors and community partners. Each presentation brings children, families, and the people who helped make the equipment together.
