The Hamlet of Ulukhaktok in Canada’s Northwest Territories is receiving $70,000 to update its community climate adaptation plan.The new plan will reflect current conditions and guide decisions about land use, housing, infrastructure, cultural heritage, and food security.Ulukhaktok is preparing for risks that include flooding, thaw slumps, coastal erosion, and supply-chain problems. The work is meant to help local leaders act before those hazards cause more harm.The grant is one of 141 climate-resilience projects being supported across 128 Canadian communities. For Ulukhaktok, it means local knowledge can help shape practical choices for the years ahead.
