The City of Tulsa was selected to join the Love Your Block initiative, which supports resident-led neighborhood projects. KRMG reported the news on October 12.
The city will receive $70,000 and support from the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University, along with a dedicated Love Your Block Fellow.
The focus area is Riverwood. Residents will be invited to develop ideas for reclaiming public space, clearing vacant lots and making other improvements they want to see in their neighborhood.
The projects are still ahead: the announcement describes plans to engage residents, not work already completed. The initiative is intended to give neighbors a role in shaping changes on their blocks.
