On October 15, officials marked the first phase of Innovative Urban Village, a development on the Christian Cultural Center's campus in East New York. The phase includes 385 permanently affordable homes.
The state announcement says 94 of the homes are reserved for households that have experienced homelessness. It did not provide rent levels or say whether applications or move-ins have begun.
Construction on a second phase has reached its top-out milestone. That phase is planned to add 453 affordable homes and a child-care facility, bringing the first two phases to more than 830 homes altogether.
