For four years, Karen Grant and Rosa Somsky worked across the hall from one another at the Freytag Cancer Center at AdventHealth Palm Coast, helping patients navigate care.
Then both women faced breast cancer. They called and texted each other through treatment, and Somsky drove Grant to appointments and helped her connect with an oncologist.
The two colleagues kept working through much of their treatment and found comfort in sharing an experience they felt others could not fully understand.
On June 25, they celebrated with their care team and rang the center's bell side by side to mark the end of treatment, AdventHealth reported.
