Argentina's National Parks Administration reported that a male maned wolf was released in Ansenuza National Park on October 19. The animal had been rescued earlier in the month in Villa Santa Rosa.
Specialists at the Tatú Carreta Rescue Center provided initial care, stabilized the wolf and checked its health before deciding it was ready to return to the wild.
A microchip was placed before the release so the animal can be identified if it is seen again. National and provincial park staff, environmental police and the rescue center worked together on the return.
The maned wolf is a provincial natural monument in Córdoba and one of the species studied by conservation teams in the park.
