The KwaHlokohloko Water Scheme has officially opened in the uMlalazi Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The project is expected to provide clean, safe, and sustainable water to 1,385 households.
The scheme was built through cooperation among the provincial government, local municipalities, engineers, and the community. Reliable water can support public health as well as household food gardens, schools, and health facilities.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli said access to water is tied to dignity, food security, education, healthcare, and local economic activity.
The province is asking residents to look after the new infrastructure and report vandalism so the service can keep flowing for the community.
