Institute of Technical Education student Naira Maisara Binte Abdullah was preparing to cycle home when she heard a 77-year-old man asking for help near JEM, a shopping centre in Singapore, Mothership reported on October 23.
The man had no phone and was unsure how to get home after renewing his passport. When directions were not enough, Naira checked his home address and walked with him for about half an hour.
At his home, Naira learned that the man's family had been searching for him. She stayed until relatives returned, and the family later wrote to ITE to thank her.
Naira told ITE that she imagined how she would feel if her own parents or grandparents were in a similar situation. That thought helped her decide to stay with the man.
