Hong Kong students performed above international averages in the 2025 Programme for International Student Assessment, known as PISA. The assessment looked at mathematics, science, reading, and an innovative area called Learning in the Digital World.
Hong Kong's score in digital learning was 545, compared with an international average of 500. Students also scored above the international averages in mathematics, science, and mother-tongue reading literacy.
The study involved 6,445 fifteen-year-old students from 230 secondary schools. The Education Bureau said the results reflect the work schools have been doing in STEAM education, which brings together science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
The bureau plans to keep improving digital learning by supporting teachers, strengthening school technology, and helping students build skills for a changing future.
