A 2.1-megawatt community solar project near Georgetown, Delaware, has come online as part of a larger effort to expand local renewable energy.
The facility has more than 5,600 panels across about 17 acres and is expected to generate roughly 5.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year for the Delmarva Power grid.
The project is fully subscribed, with more than 560 residential customers, including 121 low-income households.
It is the third of six community solar projects being developed in Delaware by TurningPoint Energy and Nautilus Solar Energy.
