More than 400 secondary schools in disadvantaged communities across England will receive tailored support to offer more activities beyond ordinary lessons.
The Department for Education said the Enrichment Expansion programme is backed by £22.5 million and could reach hundreds of thousands of young people.
Schools may use the support for music groups, engineering clubs, debating societies, sports teams, volunteering projects, and outdoor learning.
The programme is being delivered with the Youth Sport Trust and other partners. It is part of a longer effort to narrow the gap in access to enriching activities by 2035.
