Construction will soon begin on a 24-unit public housing development in Caraquet, New Brunswick, the provincial government announced on September 2.
The project is intended to improve access to safe, affordable homes for people who need them. Housing New Brunswick is working with municipalities across the province to understand where that need is greatest.
The province currently has more than 4,700 public housing units. Since the New Brunswick Housing Corporation was re-established in 2023, it has built or acquired 210 new units, with 91 more underway and another 139 in design.
For Caraquet, the new development is a concrete step toward a stronger supply of homes that local residents can afford.
