After Jesse Espitia began caring for his late sister's three children, the family was at risk of losing its San Antonio home.
Their neighbor, Susan Herrera, paid more than $2,000 for three months of rent, giving the family time to stay safely housed.
Herrera also drove Jesse and the children to school and stores, helped care for them, and sat with Jesse when he needed someone to talk to.
KABB reported that Herrera later received a $1,000 Cash for Kindness award. She said she planned to use it to keep helping the family.
