The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students has welcomed 28 community leaders into the ninth cohort of its Changemakers program.
Over the next 10 months, the group will meet education leaders, visit schools, discuss policy and practice, and take part in volunteer service around the community.
The new members will join more than 200 alumni who have taken part in the program. Together, they are working to understand obstacles in the local public education system and school equality.
The aim is practical: participants will bring their own skills, relationships, and experience to efforts that can widen opportunities for students in the Baton Rouge area.
