Tucker Gourlay was riding his bike through Westerly when he noticed a 66-year-old man who appeared to need help, according to Westerly police.
Tucker stayed with the man, helped him walk toward a nearby apartment and asked someone to call 911. Bystanders told police he did not leave the man's side before officers arrived.
While responding, Officer David Spinella noticed that Tucker's bicycle was old and too small for him. The police department later surprised Tucker with a new bike, which he rode home that same day.
The man was later released from the hospital and was stable. Tucker says he hopes other people will remember to look out for neighbors and strangers who may need help.
