West Virginia announced $9 million in federal funding over five years for Advancing College Education in West Virginia, a new college and career-preparation program led by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and six university partners.
The state says the program is planned to serve 3,600 students each year across 20 counties, beginning in sixth grade. Services are expected to include tutoring, academic advising, college preparation, financial-aid guidance and information about apprenticeships and workforce training.
The announcement describes intended reach and services, not outcomes from students already enrolled.
