One September night in Troy, New York, a child with autism fell into the Hudson River. A nearby Good Samaritan immediately went into the water and lifted the child above the surface.
The stranger could not climb out because the river wall was too high. Instead, he kept holding the child safely above the water until Troy Police officers arrived.
The officers pulled the child onto solid ground. City officials said the child was safe and uninjured, and they plan to formally recognize the Good Samaritan for his bravery.
A quick decision, followed by patient care, gave rescuers the time they needed to bring a child home safely.
