Yang Chanjong, a 77-year-old resident of Seoul's Bomun-dong neighborhood, lives alone and finds it difficult to get around, according to Yonhap News Agency.
A community-center official, Joo Hayoung, had carefully listened to Yang's situation and helped him understand which government support might be available while he was receiving care for a lung condition.
Yang wanted to pass along his thanks, so he used his cane to travel to Seongbuk District Office during a heat wave and delivered a handwritten letter himself.
He wrote that Joo's patient, thoughtful help had brought him comfort and strength. The district said it will keep working to make sure older residents and families in difficulty receive careful, personal support.
