The University of Queensland has opened Australia's first open-access quantum computing testbed, a facility designed for researchers, technology startups, and industry developers. The 10.8 million Australian dollar project includes a five-qubit quantum computer built on a superconducting platform. Smaller processors let teams test early ideas before moving to larger machines. The testbed is intended to make proof-of-concept work more affordable and help people build practical skills in a fast-growing field.Queensland funded the facility through its Quantum and Advanced Technologies Commercialisation Infrastructure Program. The project was built with Australia's national science agency CSIRO and several technology partners.
