NOAA Fisheries has awarded $103 million to 16 habitat-restoration projects across the United States.
The work will help fish reach and use healthy places to grow, feed, and reproduce. Projects include reconnecting rivers for salmon, planting corals in the Caribbean, and restoring salt marshes for shrimp and oysters.
Awards will support work in places including Alaska, California, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Texas, and Washington.
The projects are aimed at restoring nature while supporting fisheries, local economies, and the people who depend on healthy waters.
