A new agreement under Canada's Greener Homes Affordability Program will provide no-cost energy-saving upgrades to eligible low- and median-income households in Newfoundland and Labrador. The program includes both homeowners and renters.

The federal government is investing $10.5 million, while Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro and Newfoundland Power are contributing $3.15 million together. The funding is expected to help more than 1,400 households.

Eligible upgrades may include heat pumps, insulation, air sealing, energy kits and other improvements identified through a home energy assessment. The announcement did not give an application date or full eligibility details.
