Khon Kaen Zoo in northeastern Thailand has welcomed five greater flamingo chicks, the zoo director said on September 1.
The chicks hatched gradually between August 8 and 18. Veterinarians and animal caretakers have been watching them closely and report that they are healthy and developing naturally.
The young birds began leaving their nests and joining the flock at about seven days old. With the new arrivals, the zoo now has 27 greater flamingos.
The zoo says the breeding success reflects careful attention to the birds’ health, behavior and environment. Visitors can watch the chicks grow while learning about flamingos and wildlife care.
