The Global Ecosystem-based Adaptation Fund has announced up to $7.5 million in new grants for projects that use healthy ecosystems to help people cope with climate change.
The fund is co-led by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the United Nations Environment Programme, with support from Germany’s International Climate Initiative.
Small grants of up to $250,000 will support projects in countries eligible for development assistance, with particular attention to small island states and least-developed countries. A new grant window will offer up to $500,000 for larger efforts.
Eligible applicants include community-based organizations, Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, universities, research groups, NGOs, and private companies. The fund has already supported 75 projects in 41 countries.
