After severe floods in Nepal, an EU humanitarian air bridge delivered 82 tonnes of essential supplies to families facing the aftermath. The shipment was organised with UNICEF and included help for nutrition, health, water and sanitation, shelter, education, and protection.
The European Commission also provided an additional 500,000 euros through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies' disaster response fund. Local teams can use the money to meet urgent needs as they arise.
Luxembourg, Germany, Latvia, and Norway sent more equipment through the EU civil protection mechanism. The supplies included life jackets, hygiene and kitchen kits, blankets, medical supplies, protective equipment, and emergency energy equipment.
The new assistance builds on earlier EU funding and on the work of Nepalese authorities, humanitarian partners, and emergency mapping teams. Together, these groups are helping families find clean water, medicine, shelter, and a path toward rebuilding.
