Nadine Rivers and her family had been living in hotels for three weeks after a tornado badly damaged their home on Detroit's east side.
After seeing the family's story on Local 4 News, Detroit native and Indianapolis Colts player Sauce Gardner called Rivers and offered help with his partners at Supreme Construction Group.
A construction crew arrived the next day to clear debris and begin planning repairs. Detroit city workers also helped remove the collapsed porch, while building inspectors checked the home's safety.
The work is only a beginning, but Rivers now has people beside her as her family works toward getting home.
