Terry Niederklein was mowing near the Westgate housing development in Auburn when he noticed that a woman and her dog had not left the area, News Channel Nebraska reported.
Clarann Hinricks had followed Jack into a drainage pond after the dog slipped his collar. Both were unable to get out. Niederklein entered the pond and called emergency services for aid, and the pair were helped to safety.
The Auburn City Council later recognized Niederklein with its Good Neighbor Award. Hinricks joined him when Mayor Chris Erickson presented it.
