The Virgin Islands Climate Change Trust Fund opened its first call for proposals and applications on September 3, inviting organisations across the territory to seek support for local climate work.
The first funding round has two pathways. Community Resilience grants are for groups ready to carry out climate-related projects, while Capacity-Building grants are for organisations that need help strengthening their ability to do that work.
The fund shaped the call after consultations with government agencies, businesses, community groups, faith organisations and other local partners on Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke.
The Trust is offering a virtual workshop, weekly question-and-answer sessions and in-person drop-in meetings so applicants can understand the process. That hands-on support gives more local groups a chance to take part in building safer, more resilient islands.
