Singapore's Economic Development Board and Advanced Energy and Decarbonisation Office announced a S$143 million initiative on October 23 to support research and development of low-carbon technologies for industry.
Up to S$100 million is set aside for company-initiated research with Singapore research institutions. Areas include carbon capture, carbon utilisation and electrification of industrial heating.
Separately, five projects that had shown promising outcomes under an earlier programme received S$65 million in follow-on grants to work toward testing their technologies in real industrial settings.
The new funds support research and scale-up work. The announcement does not report measured reductions in industrial emissions.
