The U.S. National Science Foundation has announced a $100 million program to create State and Regional Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Hubs.The hubs will bring together universities, state and local governments, industry, and philanthropic groups to make advanced computing and data resources more available to researchers, students, and educators.NSF says access to these tools is uneven today. Regional partnerships can give more people a chance to use AI in scientific research, rather than limiting that work to the biggest institutions.The program will also support training for faculty, educators, and technical staff. NSF plans to support up to 10 hubs, each shaped around the needs and opportunities of its region.
