Rukayya Muhammed Bako brought her two-month-old daughter, Fatima, to an outreach vaccination session in Sabon Gari. Before the service came closer, a visit to the nearest health facility meant arranging transport and a long trip, the World Health Organization reported.
The Kebbi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, working with Nigeria’s National Primary Health Care Development Agency and partners including WHO, ran outreach services from June to July 2026.
Programme reports covering June to August said 543 health facilities reached more than 2,600 settlements. More than 13,285 children received a first dose of pentavalent vaccine.
The reports also said 2,503 children with no prior doses or missed scheduled vaccinations were identified and vaccinated. The WHO story does not say whether those children are included in the first-dose total.
More than 11,506 nine-year-old girls received the HPV vaccine. District Health Information System data showed that the share of facilities holding at least four outreach sessions rose from about 75 percent in May to 86 percent in July.
