A family in Farmington, New York, was home Monday evening when smoke began pouring from a car parked beside their house.Wade Peck was passing by when he spotted the fire. He connected a garden hose and sprayed the car and the side of the home, helping slow the flames. He also directed the family's son to bring out fire extinguishers while they waited for the fire department. The car was badly damaged, but the damage to the home was limited to the exterior and everyone inside was safe. Peck, a former volunteer firefighter, said he was simply helping people in his neighborhood on the way home.
