The European Commission approved Cross-Border Renewable Energy status for three projects on October 1. The designation makes them eligible for support for studies and construction work through the Connecting Europe Facility Energy Programme, but does not mean grants have already been awarded.

The WIND project links Ukraine and Romania and plans an onshore wind farm near Poltavska. DEPLOY would connect wind and solar power in Poland with heat users across the border in Germany.

ZEGA-LINNK builds on a district-heating network between Austria and Germany. Its plans include a heat pump in Simbach and a new geothermal borehole in Braunau.

The projects are at different stages, and their planned facilities are not yet complete. The European agency says the status is intended to encourage cooperation and investment in renewable energy across borders.
