Canada, Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador have announced an agreement to expand clean electricity generation and transmission in Labrador.The package includes up to 10 billion Canadian dollars in federal financing and support for upgrades to the Churchill Falls generating station, development of the Gull Island hydroelectric project, and related transmission infrastructure.The combined construction projects are valued at nearly 70 billion Canadian dollars. The governments say the work could create thousands of jobs and support communities, including the Innu Nation of Labrador.The plan also includes feasibility funding for infrastructure in the Labrador Trough, a region where new power lines could support homes, industry, and future critical-minerals projects.
