Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities have announced around $34.2 million for 141 local projects across the country.
The projects are part of the Green Municipal Fund’s Local Leadership for Climate Adaptation initiative. They include climate-adaptation plans, risk assessments, climate-focused asset management, and studies for financing future work.
Some municipalities will also use the funding for practical implementation projects. The goal is to help towns, cities, and other communities prepare for risks such as flooding, wildfires, and major storms.
The investments support Canada’s Adaptation Action Plan and National Adaptation Strategy, giving local leaders resources to understand risks and plan ahead.
