After an apartment fire in the Bronx, Nina Chambers and her three children were staying in a hotel while their home was repaired, according to WALLS 102.
Scott Evans saw the family's story on local television and wanted to help. He contacted the news station, which connected him with Chambers.
Evans gave her $3,000 to help pay for food and school costs. The two have still never met in person.
Evans said he helped because he was in a position to do so. For Chambers, the unexpected gift arrived when everyday expenses had become especially hard to manage.
